Sessions
About Your Session
As a new client there are a lot of important details about our session together. Taking the time to read through all of this will help you understand the approach to bodywork that I take and truly support us having the most productive session we can together for you.
Scheduling your session happens by contacting me directly through e-mail.
There is a great deal of information to deliver to you when you schedule, and e-mail makes this possible.
This is not what the typical person considers “massage”. Most people hear that word and immediately and envision classic Swedish massage or relaxation massage. That style of work and approach undoubtedly has its benefits but this is a Structural Bodywork session. Think of it as a treatment focused approach based on a combination of the most prominent pain symptoms you are experiencing and their relationship to the imbalances found in your musculoskeletal and fascial systems. No lotion will be used as being in the tissue is where our work happens. My philosophy and application is that of a soft tissue specialist dealing with specific issues, problem solving, and chronic pain. Together we work as a team towards making progress with each session for you and your quality of life.
Each session includes a discussion about what you feel your priorities are for you as a client. A postural analysis to formulate a treatment plan, the actual bodywork session itself, and then a reanalysis of your posture and a follow up discussion about the session as well. The process usually runs about 75 – 80 minutes total.
There is a strict 24 hour cancellation policy listed in the Intake Form you will be filling out before we meet for our first session. This policy applies to all present and future sessions.
My schedule is my business, and my business is my schedule. Your understanding and recognition of this is greatly appreciated.
As a client you are required please always bring a small pair of shorts and for female clients to make a choice about either a sports bra or tank top for their time in the assessment phase of our session and then on the table actually receiving the bodywork. Though I am using traditional labels here intentionally, I have worked with many different individuals who identify differently and have their own specific needs for comfort and safety. Whichever of these choices you feel more comfortable with is your own individual choice but some combination of these requirements must be honored. This is the fashion in which I work for several reasons, including the fact that we do not do traditional draping, but ultimately it is to be able to get the most effective work done possible for you as my client.
The charge for these sessions is 140 $ and must be paid either in cash, personal check, or credit card. If you prefer to use a credit card then service & processing fees will be applied to the total cost of the session.
I do my own scheduling and am always doing everything I can to meet everyone’s needs and schedules as best I can while still trying to maintain a small but meaningful life for myself.
